Holding out in the Bridge Fort in the last game.
Overview (Joe):
It was not to hot, low 80s.
I remember at some point we played a modified version
of the meeting engaugment game that I had cooked up on our last outing.
One team had to run across the Bridge, the other down to the Crossing
Fort and trying to take and hold the Bunker. As before, both teams started
on the hill trail, but this time we started on the Stick Fort end of
thr trail. this time play was a lot closer. My team (Red) was heading
for the crossing fort, by the time I got across the creek I headed up
the "Reed"s toward the Bridge. Adam (on the Yellow team) and
I saw each other at the same time. He was also on the "Reeds"
trail. I fired at him and he ran into the reeds toward the Field. I
worked my way through the "Reeds" toward the field. There
was a fire fight going on on the other side. I could see a Yellow guy
in the Hog Pen firing toward the Bunker Fort, The Red Flag was flying
in the Bunker, so I knew we had possession of the objective fort. I
crawled right to the edge of the reeds and looked toward the staging
area. Another Yellow player was behind a pallet, also firing towards
the Bunker I backed into the reeds and shot toward the Hog Pen guy (who
had his entire left side exposed to me) until he call himself out. I
then crawled back out and fired at the pallet guy until he ran off toward
the far (hill) side of the field.
I was getting worried about Adam showing back up. I went back to the
creek and took it all the way down to Staging. Nobody was around, so
I went up to the pallet the Yellow had been at and saw him moving along
the brush point going toward the Hog Pen. I had a perfect shot at him.
I fired, he fell over, I stop firing, he jumped up and ran into the
brush. I could now see my teamates, 3 of the younger players shooting
towards the bunker from the far (Log Fort) end of the field. They were
unkowingly shooting at their own teamates. What were they doing? They
could see the red flag! Oh well, with friends like this....?!? Time
was getting short. I could hear firing toward the bunker building up
on the right (hill) side of the Rise, out of my sight behind the brush
that the Lawence boy had ran into. I figured it was now or never, maybe
I could back shoot a bunch of them. I stalked into the clear area around
the right side of the point, and got shot out by a Yellow guy in the
brush to my left. My game was over. We (RED) ended up winning a close
game, so I think the Meeting Game is now set-up ok.
