Turnout: 22

Left to Right: Kenny, Jon, (posing like Superman), the Imig boys looking bored and Mike practicing his flag carrying techniques

Pre-Game

(Joe Lambert) It was a perfect day for paintball, a bunch of new and first time players showed up. One group of 5 (I think) came from the Eureka area. They found us on the web site. They call themselves"Hard Target", they brought us a load of patio blocks for the staging floor project the very first time they showed up!! Thanks guys!! They wanted to play together on the same team, so we put them on the yellow team with some of the other players. They were good guys, and good players, I hope they join us in the future.

Game 1. {Attack/Defense} Red/Bridge at Yellow/Bunker

(Joe Lambert) Hard Target showed up late. They wanted to play on the same team so we made them and some of the other newer guys the yellow team. Two of them were having trouble so we started the first game without them, telling the two they could enter the game when they were ready. Mike Peters and I took the "Reeds" from the Bridge all the way to the Log Fort without any opposition. We heard a firefight heating up on the bridge end of the "Rise". We moved down to the Corner Fort area before we started taking fire from the Bunker. Mike got behind a pallet and returned fire, hitting someone in the Bunker area as I slipped over the "Rise" to the "Tri-bunker". Nobody had seen me yet so I moved up to a stack of pallets about 25 feet in front of the bunker. I surprised one of them on the lower level , taking him out. I was engaged with 2 on the top level when one of them and myself simultaneously nailed each other. I don't know what happened to Mike after that. I found out afterwards that we had overlooked telling the new guys who were entering the game late that we wanted them to enter by moving the the Bunker with their barrel plugs still in and neutral, before entering the game, so instead they just came up behind the rest of our team which was between them and the Bunker and shot them in the backs. Oh well, our mistake, they didn't know.

Yellow won

Game 2. {Attack/Defense} Red/Bunker at Yellow/Log (Joe Lambert) We figured it was a fluke the we lost the first A/D game so we put the yellow team in the Log fort and we started again. I stayed in the middle of the field, advancing past the "Cedar tree". They were shooting from the Log fort. I knew Mike Aberle was in the "Reeds" to my left so I went to him. He said at least one bad guys was up the trail. I started moving forward after I heard Vince up in front of us, on the yellow team call himself out. Just as I paused, I saw one of them pop up firing at me. I fired back and we hit each other simultaneously. I was out, and we ended up losing again.

Yellow won

Game 3. {Attack/Defense} Yellow/Bridge at Red/Bunker (Joe Lambert) We decided this attacking wasn't working for us, so we switched place and played the first game in reverse, with us holding the Bunker. Mark Reising took someone with him and crossed the field into the "Reeds" to keep them from using the trail and getting behind us, I went out to the Deadman Fort. As I was moving, I saw at least two yellows going into the "Reeds" from the Bridge area, so I called out to Mark and his buddy and let them know they were getting company. I started dueling with a few of them at long range. I ending up getting two of them and running one who was behind the stack of boards on the left side off. Shooting in the "Reeds" started up, I think a yellow called himself out. Mark and friend seemed to be moving forward. I saw someone up ahead in the "Reeds", so I opened up on them, it turned out to be Vince. I flushed him out of his spot and I think Mark got him. The middle was now wide open, so I called to Mike Aberle who had been skulking about on the "Rise" near the "Hog Pen" that he might want move out to a pallet in the field. He misunderstood me and instead of going to the pallet, he started sliding up on the field side of the tall brush moving toward the stack of boards. Someone opened up on him and scored a long ball shot from across the field out of the "Reeds"up ahead from my position. The yellow guy I had ran off on the left returned to his spot behind the stack of boards. I got him this time. We switched over to the attack and finished them off before the time ran out. I got one more before it was over.

Red won

Game 4. {CTF} Red/Bunker vs Yellow/Old Fort (Joe Lambert)The next game was capture the flag, with us, the red team starting at the Bunker and the yellow team, across the creek, at the Old Fort. Kenny and I decided to try the indirect approach and walk all the way to the bridge, cross the creek, and attack the Old Fort from the far side. We crossed the bridge and as we were getting to the "Hill Trail" I warned Kenny about not following too closely to me, because I didn't want us both to get caught in an ambush. I was no sooner 20 feet up the trail when I heard a voice off to my right either in, or across the creek. Paintballs started sweeping my area and I dived to the ground thinking I was had. Kenny (bless him) immediately started returning fire from his position back at the foot of the trail. I decided I wasn't going to get a better chance to escape so I lit out down the trail until I felt I was out of harm's way. The firefight behind me had stopped and I was presented with a dilemma. (a) Should I try to circle back and help Kenny eliminate the bad guys who were assuredly trying their own "end around" on our fort. (b) Should I cross the creek and beat the bad guys back to the Bunker to (help) save the flag. (c) Or should I continue on to gloriously attack the enemy fort, capture their flag and win the game. After a few nano seconds I continued on my mission. I got passed the "Pinch point", and the Crossing Fort with no opposition. I slowed down and started sliding along the hillside, in the heavy cover, toward the Old Fort. I was getting pretty close when I caught something moving in the corner of my right eye. I froze, one of the "Hard Target" guys was moving up to a pallet facing the direction of the Crossing Fort. I slowly sunk into the weeds and watched. He had he right side exposed to me and was about 80 to 100 feet away, but there was alot of brush between us. I looked at my watch. There was only about 7 minutes left and I wasn't even to the Old Fort yet. I slowly moved until I found a tiny "sweet spot" through the junk. I put the dot of my 42mm red dot sight on him and fire 2 quick shots and waited for a response."Out"! There was no activity from the Old Fort direction as the shot out yellow guy left. I continued up the edge at the foot of the hill. I could now see glimpses of the fort through the the brush as I got closer to the rear boundary of the "Backyard". When I peeked out of the bushes across from the Old Fort I could see one guy in the upper level lookly intently toward the Crossing Fort direction. As I moved to some closer cover I saw another, smaller, player was behind him looking the same way. Two to one, but they didn't know I was there. I decided to take out the bigger one first. Just as I shot him, someone opened up and got the other guy. I saw the flag and looked at my watch, about 2 and a half minutes. As I moved into the fort to get it, I saw another guy coming up the bank out of the creek, I had my gun trained on him as he popped into the the back of the fort. It was Mark my teammate! I handed him the flag and said "two minutes!", he disappeared without a word (good old Mark, I didn't want to make that run). Craig and Kenny showed up seconds afterward as I yelled the time out toward the direction of Mark's last sighting. We heard a faint "Game Over", we won. About 10 seconded later, two yellow players appeared with our flag. They were surprised to see us at their fort, they were the ones that had shot at me back at the "hill Trail".

Red won

Game 5. {CTF} Red/Old vs Yellow/Bunker (Joe Lambert) The forts switched for the next game. I went up to the "Pinch Point" and settled in behind a pallet just before the Stick fort and waited. I was lined up with the end of the "Hill Trail". I waited for a while, but sure enough, I saw one of the yellow guys coming down the trail onto the flat. I waited for a good shot. I used my sight again, right in his middle and blasted off two rounds. He called out. I figured he must have a buddy with him, but they were also too smart to line up close togeather for me. I waited for about a minute, but I knew his buddy wasn't going to be coming down the trail. I fell back about 200 feet toward the Crossing Fort and got part of the way up the hill but still in bounds and waited. I must of waited 5 minutes, but I saw and heard nothing. The time was down to about 8 minutes, so I figured I go on offense. I crept up to the side of the Crossing Fort and saw a guy down on the other side of the creek in the willows looking toward the Old Fort, I couldn't see his arm band but I was afraid he might spot me, so I plugged him. I was glad to see he was a yellow guy as he left. with now only about 6 minutes I crossed the creek. As I came up out of the creek, I saw Craig downstream in the willows, he waved so I decided not to shoot him. I pushed thru the "Reeds" and surveyed the Bunker. It was occupied by at least 2 or 3 guys! Time was running out so I ran to the "Deadman Fort" hoping to get a a better spot to launch a surprise attack. No such luck, I guess they spotted my tiny frame lumbering toward them and started long balling me from the top and bottom of the fort. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. I returned fire. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. I emptied my hopper. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. I reloaded and emptied my hopper again. I was now attracting more attention, soon I had 2 more yellow guys enter the feild and start manuvering to my left for a flank shot, I skooted to my right for a little better cover. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. Now another one showed up in the "Hog Pen" blasting away at me. I had at least 5 of them firing at me now. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. By this time I now longer had any delusions of winning the game, I was just hoping the time would hurry and run out. I figured Craig would show up soon to take some heat off me. I got lucky a got one of the flankers. Finally, (after I didn't care anymore) I heard Craig firing past me at the guy in the "Hog Pen". A few seconds later time ran out. A tie.
